CET-Taiwan is the only approved program in Taiwan where you have the opportunity to live with a local Chinese roommate. In addition to the small group classes and full-time language pledge typical to intensive Chinese language programs, CET-Taiwan offers many extracurricular classes, activities, and trips. Students live in furnished off-campus apartments by the program.
This could be a great fit for students who want to balance ample opportunities for unscripted, informal conversation practice outside of the formal classroom setting. It is also an excellent fit for students who are interested in traveling to Taiwan with a program that provides more structure and support outside of the classroom.
Please note that the internship portion of CET Taiwan is not supported by the Light Fellowship. Students accepting the Light Fellowship are expected to commit fully to coursework. For Fall/Spring students, the internship will be replaced by supplemental coursework.
Program Application Notes:
Faculty Recommendation: CET accepts the Light Fellowship Language Evaluation as a substitute for one letter of recommendation from a language instructor. You do not need to send a recommendation request through the system. The Light Fellowship office will send the language evaluation to the program as long as you indicated your intention to apply on your Light Fellowship application.

CET Staff will be holding an on-campus information session for Chinese programs on Tuesday, October 4th, 2023 at 2:00pm - 3:00pm at 55 Whitney Ave. 3rd Fl. Rm. 305.
