[Note: Due to the impact of Covid-19, students are not currently placed with local roommates in Fall 2023. The return of this aspect of the program is TBD]. In addition to the small group, drill, one-on-one classes, and full-time language pledge typical to intensive Chinese language programs, CET-Beijing offers many extracurricular classes, activities, and trips. CET-Beijing students come from a larger number of universities and may be a good fit for Light Fellows looking to escape the “Yale bubble”. Students live with other CET students and are placed with local students who are their language buddies and meet with students weekly.
This could be a great fit for students who want to balance ample opportunities for unscripted, informal conversation practice outside of the formal classroom setting.

Mainland China Alumni Q&A
Tuesday, January 30 | 7 pm Eastern
Wondering what it's like to study in Mainland China right now? Register to hear from four students who just returned from CET programs in Beijing and Shanghai.
CET invites you to join an informational session on Mainland China programs for prospective students and study abroad advisors. The session will feature recent alumni from Beijing, who will share their experiences in Fall 2023 as some of the first study abroad students back in China. Attendees are encouraged to come with questions about the CET programming and day-to-day life in Beijing. CET staff will also be present to provide a brief overview of both programs and to facilitate the Q&A.
