CET-Beijing

CET-Beijing's strength is that students are placed with local roommates. This feature of the program is expected to return in Fall 2024. In addition to the small group, drill, one-on-one classes, and full-time language pledge typical to intensive Chinese language programs, CET-Beijing offers many extracurricular classes, activities, and trips. 

This could be a great fit for students who want to balance ample opportunities for unscripted, informal conversation practice outside of the formal classroom setting.

Students pursuing this program for the Academic Year must participate in the J-term. Students who are interested in pursuing this program as a portion of an Academic Year should pursue a second program that has less than a one month gap between the end date of one program and the start date of the other.

Program Application Notes:

• CET accepts the Light Fellowship Language Evaluation as a substitute for one letter of recommendation from a language instructor. You do not need to send a recommendation request. The Light Fellowship office will send the language evaluation to the program as long as you indicated your intention to apply on your Light Fellowship application. 
• If your language evaluation does not appear in the portal before the deadline for the program application, please do not panic. Our office will send the evaluations and/or may have already sent them, but it takes some time for it to appear in the portal. Complete all other components of the application before the deadline. 
• Study Abroad Office Recommendation: Please send the electronic form request to kripa.bhagat@yale.edu.
