Korean Language Programs

Approved Programs

Yale faculty and staff have approved the following programs for Light Fellows to pursue intensive Korean language study.

All Korean programs (except IUC at SKKU), are run through Language Education Institutes with affiliation to the host university. As such, Yale students attending these programs take courses with other international students. The average age of a student enrolled in these programs is late 20s. 

Please note that the Korean government requires students to submit apostilled documents in order to obtain a visa and some programs require it as a step in the application. Please note the apostille process can be time-consuming and we encourage students take this into account in their planning timelines. Some programs ask for a certificate of deposit/bank statement also as a government requirement. You may get in touch with the program to see if an award letter from the Light Fellowship office can replace this. If you need an award letter, please e-mail light.fellowship@yale.edu. 

Depending on your academic and personal goals, you might find that a certain program is better suited to your needs than others. Carefully review the page for each approved site for any specific notes or requirements

 All Light-Fellowship approved programs that are eligible for credit are considered Non-Yale Study Abroad programs and the International Study Award and Yale Financial Aid may be applied to participation in these programs. Please meet with Kripa Bhagat (Assistant Director, Light Fellowship) if you are interested in applying or participating in this program and applying funding outside of the Light Fellowship to the experience.

The Light fellowship has approved the Middlebury Language Schools in Vermont for Summer 2023.
