Program Application Notes:
- Admissions to PII are quite competitive. If PII is your first-choice program, we strongly recommend applying to at least one backup option.
- PII accepts the Light Fellowship Language Evaluation as a substitute for one letter of recommendation from a language instructor. Students should write the name of their current or most recent Japanese instructor with the Light Fellowship email address (light.fellowship@yale.edu) for one of their references.
- You will also need to request a second recommendation from a second Japanese instructor. If you have only had one Japanese language instructor at Yale, in addition to the language evaluation, you will need a second recommendation from a professor in another academic area at Yale university of a Japanese instructor at another institution.
