The Light Fellowship partners with many of the most rigorous intensive language and cultural immersion programs in East Asia. Programs are reviewed by Yale faculty and staff to ensure alignment with Yale coursework.
Start your search here for information on Approved Programs. Carefully review the page for each Approved Program for any specific application notes or Light Fellowship requirements.
All Light-Fellowship approved programs that are eligible for credit are considered Non-Yale Study Abroad programs and the International Study Award and Yale Financial Aid may be applied to participation in these programs. Please meet with Kripa Bhagat (Assistant Director, Light Fellowship) if you are interested in applying or participating in this program and applying funding outside of the Light Fellowship to the experience.

Tip: Searching for the program that fits you best should include discussions with your Yale language instructors, faculty and Light Fellowship staff. A clear assessment of your own learning style and personal goals can also help determine where best to study. Peer advice from students who have studied at these programs in the past is also available through the Light Fellows' Bulletin Board or by attending one of several events on campus hosted by the Light Fellowship Student Advisory Committee.
